A green tomato striped with gold, with almost black-purple shoulders, that stands out in the garden and on the plate.

What I like about Xanadu Green Goddess is the contrast between its golden stripes and its almost black-purple shoulders. Its fruits catch the eye both in the garden and on the plate. Their juicy flesh offers a balanced flavor, with sweetness complemented by gentle acidity and pronounced aromas. It is a great choice for fresh salads, sandwiches, and tasting platters. To fully enjoy its flavor, it is best eaten while the fruit is still slightly firm, before it becomes overripe.

Discovered in 2014 by Tricia Rosamilia in Pennsylvania, Xanadu Green Goddess originated from an accidental cross between Blane Horton’s Surpriz tomato and an anthocyanin-rich tomato. Tricia and Blane then worked together to stabilize the variety.

Every variety has its own personality. The best tomato isn’t the one that everyone likes, but the one that finds its place in your garden, your kitchen, and your habits.
