A yellow cherry tomato with red-orange stripes, on a plant with chartreuse foliage.

What first catches the eye about Tigret Yellow is its striking chartreuse-green foliage and yellow fruits covered with red-orange stripes. Even on a plant that reaches only 20 to 30 cm, its 15 to 30 g tomatoes are fairly large for a cherry tomato.

In terms of flavor, Tigret Yellow has a strong presence on the palate. The sweetness and acidity express themselves with a pronounced intensity, without either one completely taking over. I have noticed, however, quite a bit of variation from one fruit to another, particularly in my Brix measurements, which ranged from 5 to 9.

Its firm yet melting flesh adds an interesting texture to the tasting experience. And with its unusual foliage and striped fruits, it is a variety that really catches the eye. Magnificent!

At 20 to 30 cm tall, Tigret Yellow easily finds a place in a small pot, on a balcony, in a planter, or grown indoors with a little supplemental lighting.

And if your fingers are itching, sow it indoors whenever you like. It’s a great way to pass the time.

Every variety has its own personality. The best tomato isn’t the one that appeals to everyone, but the one that finds its place in your garden, in your kitchen, and in your habits.
