An heirloom Italian tomato originating from the Naples region, producing abundant clusters of small, red, oval fruits with firm, meaty flesh, particularly appreciated for making sun-dried tomatoes.

What I appreciate about Principe Borghese is its versatility and excellent storage capacity. Its fruits can be harvested in clusters and hung in a dry, well-ventilated place, following a traditional method that allows them to keep for several months. Their firm, meaty flesh is also particularly well suited to making confit tomatoes and dried tomatoes. Fresh, they are also enjoyable in salads, with a mild flavour and low acidity.

Principe Borghese is an heirloom variety originating from Naples, in Campania, southern Italy. It is one of the traditional Italian tomatoes grown for drying and winter storage.

Every variety has its own personality. The best tomato isn’t the one that everyone likes, but the one that finds its place in your garden, your kitchen, and your habits.
