A stunning cocktail tomato with deep purple skin speckled with orange and golden hues, giving it a unique appearance.
What I like about Black Strawberry, beyond its beauty, is its firm, juicy flesh, with a texture that reminds me of a plum. Its round fruits, sometimes slightly flattened or pointed, combine shades of purple, bluish-purple, pink, red, and gold, with darker shoulders when exposed to the sun. Its sweet flavor, mild acidity, and pronounced fruity aromas make it enjoyable fresh, and just as beautiful in salads as it is on a tomato platter.
A recent creation by J&L Gardens, Black Strawberry comes from a cross between Bosque Blue and Strawberry Tiger. Its vigorous, indeterminate plant produces clusters of colorful fruits throughout the season.
Every variety has its own personality. The best tomato isn’t the one that everyone likes, but the one that finds its place in your garden, your kitchen, and your habits.
