Pastinaca sativa

Heirloom variety from England produces long white roots with broad shoulders. Its large roots pierce hard soils, which improves drainage, a quality much appreciated in permaculture!

Sow directly in early spring, 1-2 seeds every 2.5 cm, a row 30 cm apart. Keep moist. Be patient germination can take up to 4 weeks. Thin out every 10 cm to obtain large, straight roots. Harvest after frost.
